Waiting Is a Frenzy

This work delves deeply into the emotional transformations experienced by individuals during the migration process, focusing on the crossing of borders via sea or sky.I pay particular attention to those liminal spaces marked by emotional turbulence, such as the ocean and the sky, which play dual roles in the migration journey: sometimes the ocean often symbolizes the peril and potential for survival faced by illegal migrants, while the sky is more associated with regulated migration, representing a more standardized transition.

I captured the videos of kites floating in the water and flying in the sky under different weather conditions and various water flows.I manipulate the kite to feel the air currents and ocean currents (waves). In this process, I experience and convey a sense of unease through the rise and fall, the weight and weightlessness of the object.

Migrants are not only transitioning between systems and cultures but are also experiencing and witnessing profound emotional and psychological shifts. I strive to capture those moments filled with anticipation and uncertainty, where excitement and anxiety intersect, creating a subtle psychological tension.
