Central to the work is the question: What constitutes a boundary? Is it the line on a map, a temporary position of a ship, or an individual’s cultural identity? These questions touch on the broader themes of the piece. I view the white waves left behind by a ship as fleeting boundary lines. In this work, I explore the fluidity of maritime borders through the interplay of silicone, wood, and other materials. A solid wooden panel serves as the foundation, while layered silicone mimics wake patterns—simultaneously smooth and textured—echoing the shifting, impermanent nature of oceanic divisions.
